Quality Control is Lacking

We have received two dryers, model #DR5004WG, since October 2, 2025. The first one had a defective motor that made a clicking sound. It came out of the box that way. The installer said it would stop within an hour. It never did. Eventually the store we bought it from contacted Speed Queen and was able to get a new one sent to us. The second dryer began making a high pitched squealing sound a couple days after delivery. Instead of going through the dealer again, I called an appliance repair company and have service scheduled to look at it. If it is major, I will again be calling the appliance store that we purchased from.

Good - Two minor features missing

The dryer has very nice features and performs well Two minor misses - I had a timed dry choice from 0-60 minutes on my 10 year old dryer. This only allows either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Also there's no time left display, which was on my old dryer. If it had these 2 features I would have rated it 5 stars

So far, best dryer we've purchased. Large drum that doesn't wrap our queen blankets into a ball that I have to keep pulling out, unwrap & put back for longer drying time. Steam feature is the first I've had in a dryer, still figuring out all settings. But fantastic so far!

The Speed Queen DR5004WE Dryer I purchased was a replacement for a 30-year-old commercial heavy-duty dryer that was another brand that finally stopped working. I wanted to replace the old dryer with something comparable in terms of quality and dependability. Speed Queen was the ONLY brand that met that criterion. Also, from what I remember, my parents owned a Speed Queen washer and dryer in the 1960's and 1970's and loved them.

This dryer doesn't dry properly when I use the auto-dryness feature. Invariably it stops before the clothes are dry. I've tried small loads, separating lighter and heavier clothes, cleaning out the filter between loads. It doesn't matter. 60-minute timed loads do better, but for what we paid for this, I expect the auto-dry feature to work properly and for the clothes to dry completely.

A reliable dryer

I purchased my DR5 dryer after it was recommended to me by a friend. It is quiet and easy to use. My only complaint is that there have been occasions when the clothes (heavy items, jeans, towels) don't get totally dry. I just add some time to it or lay it out to dry. It could be my fault for putting a heavy item in with lighter weight items. I'd rather have 1 or 2 items slightly damp than have all the lighter items over drying.

Good Quality with Some Shortcomings

While I'm happy with the quality of my new Speed Queen dryer, I find the door incredibly difficult to open and close without pulling very hard & slamming it shut. Both actions actually move the dryer and I always have to reposition it. Also, I would prefer a timer that would give me more options than 30 or 60 minutes. Thank you.

I absoluitely love this dryer. We switched from Electric to propane as we live on a farm, and believe me I have a LOT of laundry. This is the BEST BEST dryer that I have ever owned. I also have the matching washing machine, which I have had a few years already. After my older dryer went out, I suggested we get this one. I love it so much. It has all the bells and whistles yet it is easy to figure out and operate too, especially for a senior like myself. I love the steam setting on it and everything about it. Thank you Speed Queen, and the BIGGEST perk is the 5 yr. warranty and that it's made in the USA!!!!!

My new Speed Dryer

I wish I could give this a 5 but I'm very disappointed with how it dries. Takes forever. I use auto sense for efficiency but I am constantly having to reset as clothes are NOT coming out dry even when I am choosing "dry"...I thought long and hard about what appliances to buy. I decided to pay more hoping that Speed Queen would be the best choice. Not so sure.

Nothing but trouble

This dryer doesn't dry and required 4 service calls (and counting) to try and repair. We tried multiple cycles. At one point it took 3 sanitize, heavy duty cycles. Now it won't dry at all. I'm told they'll try one more repair and then make me try another repair shop opinion. I haven't been able to dry clothes properly for months. I've had this dryer for just over 3 months. Replace it with a new or different/better one.

We purchased a washer and dryer, wanted to buy American. Paid top dollar. The dryer doesn't dry the clothes on the first drying cycle. We need to put the clothes I. For two cycles. We haven't found any appliances that we like. Friends have the same dryer, theirs just broke after 6 Months and ours doesn't dry the clothes.

The machine is simple to use. There are 3 dials on the machine. It is impossible to not be able to use it. Speed Queen are known for their durability and warranty. Washers and dryers should not be "smart" or connected to wifi. They should plug in and work. These will last years.

I have been very frustrated using this dryer. I have called customer service more than once. Most loads dry now but I still have an issue with the "delicates" cycle. That cycle has yet to completely dry a load. My answer from customer service that it is likely an installation problem. The builder came and replaced vent on roof but that load cycle still does not dry. Clothes are more than damp.

Lots of Useless Features

I previously bought a Speed Queen washer, which worked well. However, I am very unhappy with this dryer. Basically, the only setting that works for me is timed dry, which only has options of 30 minutes or 60 minutes. I would like to be able to select a wider range of time options, like my GE dryer let me do. I also expected the autosensing to work, which it doesn't, unless you spend a lot of time sorting the laundry by fabric weight before putting it in the dryer and then use their recommended temperature settings. I like to just put in all my laundry together in a load and dry it on low heat. If I do that and try autosensing, the laundry comes out sopping wet, hardly dried at all. That is unacceptable lack of functionality for such an expensive dryer.

I bought the Speed Queen make based on a friend's recommendation. The dryer is well made and easy to use. However, I find that it doesn't;t fully dry the clothes when on the delicate cycle AND the clothes come out with grey and black streaks. I don't know what is causing this, but based on this alone, I would never recommend this particular dryer. I am extremely disappointed especially for what we paid. It's a brand new dryer. WHY is it leaving grey marking nd black streaks on the clothing?

1] Door pull too shallow, could be a little deeper to avoid breaking fingernails. 2] Filter a little hard to clean, would be easier to clean if it would lift out. 3] Very quiet, wish this model had an alarm option when clothes are finished drying. 4] Hard to know when heating cycle will be going to cooling cycle, because there is no moving timer. 5] "Regular" Fabric Selector Very Hot, shrunk clothes. Best Fabric Selector for towels, sheets and clothes is "Perm Press". All that said, it does do a good job!

Disappointing purchase so far.

We purchased both Washer and Dryers for our new home after reviews and being told that Speed Queen was the BEST. After using our Dryer 10 times it failed to start. We placed a service call and were set up with Sears Repair Services with a 8-5pm window after a 7-10 day waiting period for service........at 3pm, after being home all day waiting, they cancelled on us. The service team set us up with a second day with another provider a week later and they were able to diagnose and order new boards for our Dryer. The parts arrived after 1 1/2 weeks. After about one month of no service of our new dryer, it is finally up and running again. We spent ALOT more money on these Speed Queen products to avoid issues such as this but unfortunately, we still encountered them and were inconvenienced for a month of Laundromat drying of our clothes. Very frustrating.

I purchased a new Speen Queen dryer (Model #ADE6HRYS178TW01) I am very pleased with this product. It is doing the job it was purchased for. That's all I ask. I do find that the auto sensing cycle many times leaves my husband's heavy jeans a little damp around the waistband, but overall, I have enjoyed using the dryer. I did read that there is an optional drying rack available but haven't been able to find where to order it yet.
