Completely disappointed

We have had this oven for just over a year now. It was included in our new home build. We have had to put a oven thermometer in the oven itself to find out what the real temp is. The oven, itself, never has it right and takes forever to warm up to the advertised temps even after it "beeps" to tell you it is ready.

Oven Door Glass Shatters with Self Clean Feature

After about one year of using the oven, I used the self clean "precise clean" feature for the first time while following the directions provided in the manual. I set it for 4 hours (as stated in the manual) and left, only to come back later to notice that the inner glass pane on the door had shattered and left shards of glass all over the inside of the oven and kitchen floor. I immediately contacted Whirlpool who said it would be about $500 to fix using a service technician. Instead, I bought the part myself and replaced it. Afterwards, I was hesitant to use the self clean feature again but decided to the other day after about two years since the first incident. This time I set it for 3 hours and again left only to come back and find that the same pane of glass had shattered again. I contacted Whirlpool to ask if a recall was ever done for this part as there is something clearly defective with it. No recall has been made and Whirlpool did not offer to cover any of the expense as I've again had to buy a new glass pane, which Whirlpool has now increased the price of. The self clean feature is basically useless if it causes the glass to shatter every time.

Ease of installation

We bought this as a return from Lowes. Installation was easy except the oven was almost to deep for our cabinet. Once I cut the back out, the oven slid into place with ease. Excellent features. I think it will serve us well for the next 10-15 years (hopefully).

Difficult to operate, temperature fluctuates

Temperature is so inconsistent. I bake a tray of cookies and they come out one way. I put the second tray in for same amount of time and they are totally different. Today I baked a tray of chocolate chip cookies. Cooking time called for 10-12 minutes. They were finally done at 22 minutes. We just moved into this house. Kitchen had a total remodel. Oven is brand new but no manual came with it.

Oven looks good, but preheat is very misleading. Says it's ready, but is still at least 100 degrees off. Also don't like the way it "averages" out -sometimes too hot, sometimes too cool to try to maintain desired temp. Also, broiling is a complicated process.

Great front design - need little improvement

The bottom coil is hidden under plate - makes pre-heating to long. This also do not allow the use aluminum foil on the bottom for easy cleaning. The cooling fan is little bit noisy. The racks need to be made from titanium (Cobalt) allow - will prevent getting dark in self cleaning mode.Instate of double oven need to be develop single oven - combo combining the futures of double oven. Insulation can be improved using silicon carbite plates - this will avoid the use of cooling fan at all.

Not a convection but it works great

I was under the impression that my landlord is going to replace our fancy Thermidor convection oven with another convection oven. Instead he bought the whirlpool which is a regular oven. I was disappointed at first but after using the oven it works really really well. The cleaning function is great. My only complaint is that the fan that cools the oven once you're done is a little noisy in the runs for a very long time. I come back this feature with simply opening the oven door after I'm done cooking letting the oven cool naturally, it stops the fan much faster .
